Support for the Dukan Diet

My site provides free information and support to anyone who is following or considering following the Dukan Diet to lose weight.  In my posts you will find hints, tips and information as well as many Dukan Diet recipes suitable for the first two phases of the diet plan.  I also sometimes provide general information about losing weight, maintaining your ideal weight, eating healthily and exercising.

What is the Dukan Diet?

The Dukan Diet is a diet plan which has been developed and refined for over thirty years by Dr Pierre Dukan, a French nutritionist and doctor.

Describing the diet as “a planetary success” and as “the revolutionary weight loss plan that has taken the world by storm! ”  is obviously a little bit of sales hype on behalf of Dr Dukan, but his diet is certainly an international success as his Dukan Diet book has been published in 20 countries in 10 different languages.  I also know that visitors to my site come from all over the world.

Unlike many other diet plans that you may have tried in the past, the Dukan Diet plan not only gives you the tools to lose weight, it also helps you develop new healthier eating habits that will allow you to stay at your target weight forever.   There is nothing magical about the diet plan, although many dieters are astounded by the amount of weight they lose in the Attack Phase which is the first phase of the diet.

The Dukan Diet Phases

The Dukan Diet is a diet plan with four distinct phases.  The first two weight loss phases, Attack (Phase 1) and Cruise (Phase 2) are based on the use of 100 allowed foods thatPrawns - A protein food on the Dukan Diet make the food you eat high in protein but low in sugar, fat and carbohydrates.  These 100 allowed foods are made up from a list of 72 low fat, protein rich foods and a list of 28 vegetables which are low in sugar and starches.  In Phase 3 – Consolidation you start to add back fruit, hard cheese and starchy foods until you reach the final phase Phase 4 – Stabilisation which you follow to keep off the weight forever.

The Dukan Diet of course wouldn’t be the Dukan Diet without the another main feature, the daily serving of oat bran!

What also sets the diet apart from many others is the fact that almost all of the 100 allowed foods can be eaten freely without restriction and that there is no counting of calories or carbs!

Back again–didn’t lose any weight doing Staircase so after a break restarted Cruise this week. Did 3 days of PV (LOTS of dairy); planning on adding veggies starting today then doing close to a 1:1 juggled so that I have veggies every Sunday. Feeling better; mysterious and scary medical issue seems to have resolved for now so onward and upward. Only have 12 lbs to lose and I will no longer be categorized as obese (just overweight–then 39 lbs to goal weight). Will be around.

P.S. Started again on September 5th, the day after my 63rd birthday–if this beat-up, ailing senior can do this then anyone can!

      Hi Mary

Sorry to hear that the Staircase didn’t work out but really pleased to hear that your mysterious and scary medical issue has resolved itself.

Any idea as to why even lean lamb isn’t included?

    • Amber on August 5, 2017

      Hi Amy

Lamb has more calories/fat – 100g of sirloin has 135 calories and 4.5 g of fat. 100g of lean only roasted leg of lamb has 191 calories and 7.7 g of fat.

      Thanks

Never mind–found them here. For some reason the most recent posts are not showing up on our desktop, which is largely my husband’s territory (might have to do with his security setup). On my Kindle Fire now; problem solved. Thanks again.

Help!! A few days ago you gave me some wonderful answers to my questions about Staircase, especially a way to modify it by repeating the weight-loss days rather than moving on to the last 3. I have looked and looked and I can’t find those posts–I vaguely remember them being in sort of an odd spot but they’re not turning up. If you could find them for me and post in your reply where they are I would be very grateful.

      Hi Maribo

Sorry oat flakes are not the same as oat bran.

      Thanks

      Amber:)

Have to modify my last post. Haven’t been able to tolerate even the 2/5 rhythm this time so looking to start the Staircase this coming Monday for the first time. Will be using the 2 tbs oat bran most days and still minimizing added fats and sugars even for my Celebration meals because my health problems will be better addressed if I do that–I can still make VERY good low-cal treats!

      Hi Mary

I’m so pleased you managed to keep off most of the weight from last time.

I know your health difficulties making dieting very difficult. The Dukan 2 is a gentler way to lose weight but if you wanted to try a variation you could try something like
      Mondat – Day 1
      Tuesday – Day 2
      Wednesday – Day 3
      Thursday – Day 4
      Friday – Day 1
      Saturday – Day 2
      Sunday – Day 3

As you move through the days from 1 to 7 the weight loss impact reduces and is minimal on days 6 and 7.

      Very best wishes

Hello, Amber–back again after having my still-excessive weight stuck in the same 10-lb window for about a year and a half. Very happy that I’ve maintained almost all of my prior loss, which is a first, but time to get moving again. Have also developed a mysterious and scary new health problem (possibly heart-related) that should be helped by the Dukan low fat and lots of vegetables so will be using the 2PP/5PV Cruise rhythm. I’ve also joined the Dukan Facebook support group where I can get recipes, second-hand info from the app etc, which has proven very helpful. Will be around and hopefully shrinking!
