The Fastest Way to Lose Weight in a Week with the Dukan Diet

If you are looking for a fast way to lose weight in a week the Dukan Diet might be exactly the diet plan you are looking for.  The Attack Phase, the first phase in Dr Pierre Dukan’s diet plan was designed to make “your scales drop with breathtaking speed”.

How much weight you will lose in your first week on the Dukan diet will vary from person to person but many people like Marshall Brain have reported losing more than a pound a day in this initial period.  Those who lose the most weight tend to be those with a lot of weight to lose and who were not already following a different diet plan.

The Dukan Diet is a diet program that many men seem to find easy to follow so if you are looking for a weight loss program to follow as a couple the Dukan Diet may be exactly what you are looking for.

The powerhouse which drives the weight loss on the Dukan Diet is high quality, low fat, pure protein foods and Dr Dukan designed his Attack Phase to ensure that you harness the full weight loss impact of these foods by excluding virtually all other food types from your diet during this short initial phase.

How Pure Protein Foods Help You Lose Weight

Protein is more difficult for the body to digest so this means the digestion system burns more calories when you eat food high in protein than when you eat food high in fat or carbohydrates.  The fact that protein is more difficult to digest also means that it keeps you satisfied for longer.  Protein foods encourage the body to eliminate toxins and fluids so are excellent in helping combat water retention.

Off to a great start lost 7lb in less than a week. Glad we found your site. Very helpful thank you.

    • Bri on June 29, 2014

I saw on the site about 3 vegetables to avoid. But I can’t find it now. Can someone enlighten me on it please?

      • Amber on June 29, 2014

        Hi Bri

There are three vegetables on the list, carrots, beetroot, and artichokes which you need to be careful when eating as their high sugar content might impact on your weight loss so you need to restrict these to one serving per week each.

hello! I was wondering if you could tell me why beans like Goya brand of either black or Canellini are not allowed during the attack phase. they are pure protein and have no sugar on the label.
    thanks!!

    • Amber on June 26, 2014

      Hi Marcy

These beans are not pure protein, they may not contain sugar but they do contain quite high levels of carbohydrates. There is more than twice the amount of carbs than protein so I’m not sure where you are getting your information from.

      Kind regards

I have lost weight on the Dukan Diet…and kept most of it off for over 2 years…but gradually I find that I have put on 15 pounds from the original 55 pounds lost. I work out at least 2 hours a day. But getting abit lazy with what I eat. It is hard to go back to the decipline…but my question is now how much time must I spend in the Attack Phase for 15 pound loss?

    • Amber on May 12, 2014

      Hi Sal

I’d go for 3 or 4 days. Did you do Dukan Thursdays?

      Kind regards

      Amber:)

      • Sal on May 13, 2014

Thank you Amber…I will do the 3 days…and No I didn’t do the Dukan Thursdays…but I guess I felt that the 2hour workouts helped to keep the weight down. I did cardio, weights and also palates. I am not too tall only 5 ft 2 inches and weight shows on me quickly. Went from 175 pounds down to 20 pounds…Would like to get there again..But I will try to do that Dukan Thursday when I arrive at my goal weight again. Just feel hungry all of the time…lol! Will keep you posted if I get there or if I need more advice. Thank you again!

        • Amber on May 13, 2014

          Hi Sal

The workouts will help but the Dukan Thursdays are important to counter the excesses of the other 6 days.

          Best wishes

Sorry Amber…noticed a type error…meant to say 120 pounds and not 20 pounds..LOL..I think you are right…maybe I should have done the Dukan Thursday…but does it have to be a Thursday…or can you pick the day that is convienient for you? The one thing I must mention is that working out like I do, I get hungry and need to eat alot more…I am hoping that the weight doesn’t creep up on me…Everyone said that the muscle weighs more than fat…how do you feel about that…or is 15 pound gain just that…a 15 pound gain. Thank you for you input.

          • Amber on May 14, 2014

            Hi Sal

It doesn’t have to be a Thursday but it is best to have a regular day each week.

Muscle definitely weighs more on a volume for volume basis so if you’ve gained muscle as a result of all your hard work you probably need to lose less than 15 pounds. Most athletes would be overweight/obese based on their BMI height to weight ratio but often they don’t have an ounce of fat on them!

  • LeVar on February 27, 2014

    Hi,
I am beginning the cruise phase, but I’m finding it very hard to determine what items I can snack on in between meals. My doctor has asked that I abstain from sugars or grains at this point; so is my only option green veggies (broccoli, kale, cauliflower) to snack on until I reach my target weight?

    Thanks!

    • Amber on February 28, 2014

      Hi Levar

You are obviously on a highly restrictive diet for health reasons and I don’t feel comfortable providing you with advice. I think you need to go back to your doctor so he can advise you which foods you are allowed to eat as so many foods contain sugars even broccoli and cauliflower although it is at very low levels.

      Kind regards

      Amber:)

Do you have to eat only three meals a day and two snacks? Or can you eat yogurt and meat in between if you are hungry.

    • Amber on January 6, 2014

      Hi Michelle

You can eat whenever you get hungry and can eat meat and yogurt between meals if you prefer but it is a good idea to try to establish settled eating habits if possible as our almost continuous grazing culture has a lot to answer for.

      Best wishes

      Amber:)
