    I am trying to follow this diet. However there’s always a worry in the back of my mind about my cholesterol level.

    How safe is Dukan diet for people with high cholesterol ?. Wouldn’t it rise the level of cholesterol In the body and the test results? Thaaaanks

      You need to discuss this matter with your doctor because if you have high cholesterol levels the Dukan Diet may not be suitable or may need to be adapted for you to follow.

        There are three vegetables on the list, carrots, beetroot, and artichokes which you need to be careful when eating as their high sugar content might impact on your weight loss so you need to restrict these to one serving per week each.

    hello! I was wondering if you could tell me why beans like Goya brand of either black or Canellini are not allowed during the attack phase. they are pure protein and have no sugar on the label.

      These beans are not pure protein, they may not contain sugar but they do contain quite high levels of carbohydrates. There is more than twice the amount of carbs than protein so I’m not sure where you are getting your information from.

    I have lost weight on the Dukan Diet…and kept most of it off for over 2 years…but gradually I find that I have put on 15 pounds from the original 55 pounds lost. I work out at least 2 hours a day. But getting abit lazy with what I eat. It is hard to go back to the decipline…but my question is now how much time must I spend in the Attack Phase for 15 pound loss?

        Thank you Amber…I will do the 3 days…and No I didn’t do the Dukan Thursdays…but I guess I felt that the 2hour workouts helped to keep the weight down. I did cardio, weights and also palates. I am not too tall only 5 ft 2 inches and weight shows on me quickly. Went from 175 pounds down to 20 pounds…Would like to get there again..But I will try to do that Dukan Thursday when I arrive at my goal weight again. Just feel hungry all of the time…lol! Will keep you posted if I get there or if I need more advice. Thank you again!

          Sorry Amber…noticed a type error…meant to say 120 pounds and not 20 pounds..LOL..I think you are right…maybe I should have done the Dukan Thursday…but does it have to be a Thursday…or can you pick the day that is convienient for you? The one thing I must mention is that working out like I do, I get hungry and need to eat alot more…I am hoping that the weight doesn’t creep up on me…Everyone said that the muscle weighs more than fat…how do you feel about that…or is 15 pound gain just that…a 15 pound gain. Thank you for you input.

            It doesn’t have to be a Thursday but it is best to have a regular day each week.

            Muscle definitely weighs more on a volume for volume basis so if you’ve gained muscle as a result of all your hard work you probably need to lose less than 15 pounds. Most athletes would be overweight/obese based on their BMI height to weight ratio but often they don’t have an ounce of fat on them!

    I am beginning the cruise phase, but I’m finding it very hard to determine what items I can snack on in between meals. My doctor has asked that I abstain from sugars or grains at this point; so is my only option green veggies (broccoli, kale, cauliflower) to snack on until I reach my target weight?

      You are obviously on a highly restrictive diet for health reasons and I don’t feel comfortable providing you with advice. I think you need to go back to your doctor so he can advise you which foods you are allowed to eat as so many foods contain sugars even broccoli and cauliflower although it is at very low levels.

    Do you have to eat only three meals a day and two snacks? Or can you eat yogurt and meat in between if you are hungry.

      You can eat whenever you get hungry and can eat meat and yogurt between meals if you prefer but it is a good idea to try to establish settled eating habits if possible as our almost continuous grazing culture has a lot to answer for.
