Dukan Diet Oat Bran Chocolate Muffin Mix for Cruise Phase

I’ve already provided a “do it from scratch” recipe for Dukan Oat Bran Muffins in one of my earlier posts but this post is about the Dukan Diet Oat Bran Chocolate Muffin Mix which is an official Dukan Diet product than can help you lose weight.  It is not a product that I’ve used myself and because I prefer to have my daily serving of oat bran as porridge for breakfast it isn’t a product that I personally would find helpful but I do know that a lot of people do really enjoy eating muffins while losing weight on the Dukan Diet so they might be interested in this product.

The Dukan Diet Oat Bran Chocolate Muffin Mix is not as simple to use as the Betty Crocker Muffin Mixes to which you just add water but these Dukan muffins do have less calories and of course are allowed on the Dukan Diet from the Cruise Phase.

The mix contains some ingredients that you’d expect such as oat bran, cocoa powder, dried egg white, vanilla powder, baking powder and sea salt but it also contains soy protein concentrate, vegetable fiber, whey protein, wheat free cereal fiber, soy lecithin, low glycemic monosaccharide and  low glycemic fruit concentrate (Lo Han).  It is these additional ingredients which will give the finished baked oat bran muffin a different texture to the “do it from scratch” oat bran muffin.

The oat bran in these muffins do not count towards your daily serving of oat bran.

To make the muffins you need to:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F/175°C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Put the muffin mix in a mixing bowl with 6oz of Greek yogurt and 1 and 1/3 cups of water and mix together.
  3. In another bowl whisk one egg white and one large egg for one minute.
  4. Add the beaten eggs to the muffin mix and blend well together.
  5. Divide the mixture equally to make 12 muffins using a non stick muffin pan or paper muffin cups in a muffin pan.
  6. Bake for approximately 17 to 19 minutes but do not over cook the muffins or they will become very dry.
  7. When cool the muffins can be kept in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or they can also be placed in the freezer for up to 2 months.  To use from the freezer, defrost in the refrigerator overnight and just before eating place in the microwave for 15 seconds.

If you prefer chocolate cake to muffins you may be very interested to know that you can also use the mix to make Dukan Double Chocolate Cake as well. The Dukan Diet Oat Bran Chocolate Muffin Mix can be easily adapted to make Chocolate Espresso Oat Bran Muffins by replacing 1/3 of a cup of water with 1/3 cup of brewed espresso or strong coffee instead.

To make the Dukan Double Chocolate Cake you need to:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F/175°C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Put the muffin mix, 3 large eggs, 16 oz of fat free Greek yogurt, 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of reduced fat, sugar free cocoa powder and 1 and 1/3 cups of water in a mixing bowl and whisk well together.
  3. Add sweetener to taste and mix in, 6 packets of  natural sugar- free sweetener are the recommended amount.
  4. Put the mix in a 9″ non-stick round cake pan, or an 8″ or 9″ square non-stick baking pan.
  5. Bake for around 20 to 24 minutes until a toothpick placed into the center of the cake comes out clean or the top is firm when pressed lightly.  As for the muffins it is important not to over do the baking as the cake will dry out.
  6. When cool the cake can be kept in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to  five days, or it can be cut into portions,  wrapped tightly and placed in the freezer for up to 2 months.  1/12 of the cake is a portion and it contains your daily serving of oat bran in the Cruise Phase.

So as a tolerated item, how many muffins made from the Dukan Chocolate Muffin mix are allowed during Cruise, and do they count as Oat bran requirement. Sorry if some of that is redundant. Kind of looks “too good to be true” I’m sure I could eat them all day.

      Hi Bob

Have 2 per day as your tolerated items and eat your daily serving of oat bran in addtion.

      Thanks

      Amber:)

    Hi Amber,

I have the vanilla mix and while you say above for chocolate that it fulfills your oat bran requirement in the cruise phase, does that apply to the vanilla as well?

I want to make sure because the oat bran bars from Dukan say that it doesn’t replace your oat bran requirement in cruise phase, so I can have one bar a day AND two tablespoons of oat bran.

    Thanks,
    Traci

      Hi Traci

This post was written some time ago when the product was first launched. I’ve now changed it to removed the sentence about it fulfilling the daily oat bran requirement.

These types of Dukan products are now treated as tolerated items and are allowed in addition to the daily serving of oat bran.

      Best wishes

      Amber:)

I’m waiting for the book, but in the meantime, are you allowed any fats on Cruise step for salads and/or veggies?
