Dukan Diet Attack Phase – Recipes and Tips #3

Apart from the 72 high protein, low carb foods that you are allowed to eat in the Attack Phase you also have to think about what you are going to drink and my #3 recipe and #3 tip are both about drinks.

Just like oat bran, water is another key component of the Dukan Diet, as whilst following the Dukan Diet it is recommended that you drink two liters of water each day. You need water to help your body process the food that you eat and to eliminate waste through your kidneys. Drinking water will also stop you feeling hungry. Drinking this amount of water every day can be very expensive if you buy bottled water so my #3 Dukan Diet tip is “Keep one or two jugs of tap water in the refrigerator” and drink this instead. You also can use this water to fill a bottle or flask to take with you when you are out.

You are allowed to take your daily amounts of water in tea or coffee or herbal teas or infusions provided you only use sweeteners and skim or zero fat milk.  However if you don’t over do it, it is also possible to indulge a passion for chocolate whilst on the Attack Phase with my #3 Dukan Diet Recipe Low Carb Creamy Hot Chocolate. Reduced fat, no sugar added, cocoa powder is a tolerated food so if you are in the Attack Phase and looking to maximise your weight loss in this initial period you might want to avoid this. The choice is yours. I find knowing that I can have something if I really want to means that often I can do without or with less!

Low Carb Creamy Hot Chocolate

  • 1 mug of skim/zero fat milk
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of reduced fat, no sugar added, cocoa powder
  • 1 heaped tablespoon of fat free/skimmed milk powder
  • Artificial sweetener to taste

  1. Place the cocoa powder and milk powder in a small bowl.
  2. Using a small amount of the milk mix to a smooth paste.
  3. Whisk in the rest of the milk.
  4. Microwave for 1 minute and then whisk in the sweetener.
  5. Microwave for a further minute.
  6. Whisk again and pour into mug to serve.

Hi, I have been doing the attack phase for a few days and have actually put on weight! I am lactose intoelrant so I am having alpro soya yoghurt plain or other soya yoghurts and I am using lucuma powder to sweeten and also guaraná powder for energy (I can´t have caffeine). Could it be the soya or the guaraná or the lucuma that is stopping the dukan from working? I am also eating tofu and konjak carb free rice noodles.

    • Amber on December 29, 2017

      Hi Maria

The guaraná powder has 2 g of carbs per teaspoon and 9 calories and a tablespoon of lucuma powder has 60 calories and 13 g of carbs so these two foods could well be at fault as the Dukan is a high protein, low carb diet.

    Hi Amber,
Its monotonous to eat chicken that boiled or roasted during PP. Just want to ask:
Can eating egg whites restricting 1 egg yellow fills the requirement to having non veg on PP or Pv in case i dont feel like eating chicken??
Can you please i request seggest me some Indian pulses which can be eaten on PP or PV days which contain high protein with least carb abd fat. Can you please name them.
As I only eat chicken in non veg menu no other meat.

    With regards

    • Amber on October 23, 2016

      Hi Jarrie

As you only eat chicken you may find it better to which to the vegetarian version of Dukan. If you go to my home page and type “vegetarian” into the search box a little way down in the right hand column you’ll find posts with more information.

          Hi Jarrie

I’d suggest a 3 day Attack and then try the Dukan Diet 2 as you are now part of a couple I think you will find this easier to stick to.

          Best wishes

    Hi Amber

Lost 6llb in a week loving this diet😀😀😀
Starting cruise phase Sunday going to make a Sunday lunch any good recipes for gravy?

    • Amber on October 19, 2016

      Hi Julie

Oxo with a little cornflour as one of your tolerated foods would be the best option but unfortunately it is never going to be a replacement for proper home made gravy.

Something to look forward to when you have your Celebration meals in Consolidation.

      Best wishes

Hi there. It’s winter here in Australia & I am on stabilisation phase…….only real focus is my protein Thursdays (I actually do Tuesdays!) I have the Dukan cocoa (could be cocao). Can I froth up some skim milk (99% fat free) and make a hot chocolate to enjoy at night on my “protein Thursday”? Mind you, I could have 4 a day!
Can I use the cocoa in yoghurt too?

    • Amber on August 16, 2015

      Hi Suzie

If your weight is stable there is no reason not to enjoy a Dukan Hot Chocolate on your Dukan Thursday on Tuesday. However if you are finding it hard to maintain a steady weight I’d recommend not having any tolerated foods and to be really strict with yourself on this Pure Protein day keeping fats/carbs as low as possible and protein high.

      Kind regards

Can I use baker’s unsweetened chocolate in attack phase?

    • Amber on July 26, 2015

      Hi Tanya

Sorry no – chocolate isn’t allowed on the weight loss phases.

      Kind regards

  • Anna on February 3, 2015

    Hi Willa,

Is it ok to have fat free sugar free pudding mix during the attack phase? I made a wonderful chocolatey yogurt mixture using fat free greek yogurt, stevia drops, cocoa powder, and jello pudding mix with a little water to thin it out. Is that allowed? Thanks!

    – Anna

    • Amber on February 3, 2015

      Hi Anna

I’m afraid that sugar free pudding isn’t allowed only sugar free jello. However I do know that many people do bend the rules and continue to use this product.

      Best wishes

Swiss Miss makes a Diet Cocoa with 25 calories and no fat but 4g of carbs. Would this be acceptable on the Dukan Diet Attack level?

    • Amber on October 15, 2014

      Hi Willa

This drink is too high in calories – any diet drink needs to have one calories or less per serving.

      Kind regards

  • Rana kurdi on October 13, 2014

    Hi amber:)
Dukan phase one is working perfetly for me.
But i was wondering if i can have diet coke or diet pepsi during dukan phases.
Thank you for your lovely help

    • Amber on October 13, 2014

      Hi Rana

You can have up to three servings of drinks with less than one calories per serving on any phase of the Dukan. Both Coke and Pepsi make drinks that meet this criteria.

      Best wishes

          Hi Pamela

No – you can have these but in moderation or you won’t lose weight.
