How Much Weight Can Be Lost in Attack Phase of Dukan Diet?

One of the questions that I’ve been asked is how much weight you can expect to lose in the Attack Phase of the Dukan Diet.

There is no formula to work this out as the amount of weight that an individual will lose in this phase of the diet.  The answer will depend on how much weight you need to lose and for how many days you will be following this phase of the Dukan Diet.  The more weight you need to lose and the longer you are in the Attack Phase the larger your weight loss will be.  As a rough guide:

  • If you need to lose up to 10 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for 2 days and can expect to lose between 1 and 3 lbs.
  • If you need to lose up to 20 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for 3 days and can expect to lose between 3 and 5 lbs.
  • If you need to lose up to 40 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for 5 days and can expect to lose between 4 and 6 lbs.
  • If you need to lose more than 40 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for between 7 and 10 days and can expect to lose 5 lbs or more.

What is so attractive about the Attack Phase is the large weight loss that you can achieve in just a matter of days.  This weight loss gives a tremendous kick start to the diet helping to provide momentum.

    Hello all,

I am on my 5th day of the attack phase and did everything according to the book, no sins, no cheating, nothing. However, my scale shows me a weight loss of 600 gram only? I am trying to loose 8 kgs with the diet and the online tool calculated 1.3 kgs in 3 days. What could be the trigger?

I will not give up, but am a bit demotivated now.
    Thanks!

      Hi Martina

It is demotivating when the scales don’t reflect the effort you’ve made but patient and hang in there and everything should work out. This is because the most likely explanation for the lack of movement on the scales is water retention but you have extended the Attack Phase beyond the recommended 3 days.

The Attack Phase is very restrictive and following it for longer than recommended can result in your metabolism slowing. You should switch to the Cruise Phase straight away.

      Kind regards

      Amber:)
