How Much Weight Can Be Lost in Attack Phase of Dukan Diet?

What is so attractive about the Attack Phase is the large weight loss that you can achieve in just a matter of days.  This weight loss gives you a tremendous kick start to your diet helping to provide momentum to continue. One of the questions that I’ve been asked many times is how much weight you can expect to lose in the Attack Phase of the Dukan Diet.

Unfortunately there is no accurate formula to work this out and the amount of weight that an individual will lose in this phase of the diet can vary quite widely.

The results you will achieve will depend mainly on how much weight you need to lose and for how long you will be following this phase of the Dukan Diet.   The more weight you need to lose and the longer you are in the Attack Phase the larger your weight loss will be.

As a rough guide:

  • If you need to lose up to 10 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for 2 days and can expect to lose between 1 and 3 lbs.
  • If you need to lose up to 20 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for 3 days and can expect to lose between 3 and 5 lbs.
  • If you need to lose up to 40 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for 5 days and can expect to lose between 4 and 6 lbs.
  • If you need to lose more than 40 lbs you will follow the Attack Phase for between 7 and 10 days and can expect to lose 5 lbs or more.
You could also visit one of Dr Dukan’s official Dukan Diet sites and on the right hand side of the home page you will see a tool to calculate your true weight.  When you have provided the information requested the tool will calculate your true target weight and it will advise how many days you should stay on the Attack Phase and how much weight you can expect to lose.

There are of course many factors which influence your weight and if for example you were suffering from constipation and/or water retention the effect of these conditions would temporarily mask the weight loss produced by the Attack Phase.

You do also need an accurate set of bathroom scales and should try to weigh yourself at the same time each day.  First thing in the morning after having visited the bathroom is usually the best.  Remember that your weight can vary throughout the day depending upon how much you’ve eaten or drunk and how much has been eliminated.

If you would like more information on the Attack Phase you will find a summary of the key points in this post- Dukan Diet Phase 1: 15 Key Points of Dukan Diet Attack Phase.

    Hi Amber..

As many people say I notice that I look like I have gained weight during my period so I prefer not to weigh myself during it, but if that is true then when should I weigh myself after it and be sure the weight is as it really is and not increased because of water retention?

    Thanks

      Hi Dana

Your clothes should tell you when things are back to normal but 2-3 days after your period has finished is when most people are back to normal.

      Kind regards

      Amber:)
