Stopped Losing Weight On Dukan Diet: White Day Pure Protein Day

My knowledge of the Dukan Diet comes from various sources and apart from the Dukan Diet book itself, there are also the Dukan Diet’s official websites and Facebook pages.    For example it has been by visiting the official Dukan Diet UK site at that I discovered that you could eat up to three sugar free jellos a day and it is also where I found out about goji berries. However because Dr Dukan is continuing to fine tune his diet it can mean that you find conflicting advice and information.

One of the most recent additional pieces of information that I discovered is about the “White Day” pure protein only day which helps overcome weight loss stagnation and this information came from the Facebook pages of Dukan Diet – US.  The “White Day” is a very easy variation of your normal PP day, where instead of allowing yourself to eat from the list of 72 protein foods, you limit yourself to just eating as much high quality white proteins as you like, such as fat free dairy, white fish, chicken, turkey and eggs whites along with your normal serving of oat bran.   You try to avoid all other foods including tolerated items and increase the amount of walking that you do.

Although following a “White Day”  PP day fits within the rules of the Dukan Diet I would not personally eat like this on a regular basis as it is too restrictive and boring.  I can however see that a boost of high quality protein combined with the additional exercise could well help get your weight loss moving again.

I have had steady weight loss my 3 weeks on Dukan. Two days ago I gained half a pound which I attributed to too many carbs thru fat free dairy the previous day. So yesterday did pp with no carbs or dairy except 3 small tomato slices with my steak. I gained 1 whole pound! What is going on???

    • Amber on February 11, 2017

      Hi Sharie

Weight loss is a very complicated thing and our bodies don’t always react as we would expect on a diet.

Small weight gains can be a due to several reason – water retention and constipation are the most common.

Hang in there and everything will be fine.

      Best wishes

  • Bená on February 1, 2017

    Hi there,
I started the Dukan diet on Monday and as of today(day 3) I have not lost any weight. I am following very closely and have not deterred at all. I seem to be gaining weight even. Is this possible and why would this happen?

    • Amber on February 2, 2017

      Hi Bená

Water rention/constipation are the most likely culprits. Be patient and the weight loss will happen.

      Kind regards

  • Jane on January 22, 2017

    Hi Amber,
It is wonderful to find you back on line! You provide inspiration to so many people, myself included!!!
I have been doing well on the diet the second time through, it has been slower but steadier. My drawback these days is I have been craving peanuts and eating them ha ha!!!! Of course I have not lost!!! Any suggestions for an alternative snack????? Thanks, and once again welcome back!!!

    • Amber on January 22, 2017

      Hi Jane

It is good to be back!

You could try keeping carrot, cucumber and celery batons ready to eat in your refrigerator. Even on a PP day it is better to slip up and eat vegetables rather than peanuts. Baby tomatoes are also good and I find having a cup of tea can help!

      Take care

      Best wishes

Been on Dukan diet…did the 3 days Attack and now onto the next phase. I am wanting to lose about 1o to 12 pounds but somehow am stuck. I work out about 1 hour of high impact and do stretching for about another 30 minutes…I eat what I believe to be enough food as far as meat & veggies….teas and coffee, yogarts are usually my go to for snacks and desserts….but it is frustrating when there is no more weight lose….please advice…thankyou!

    • Amber on January 20, 2017

      Hi Silvana

Are you suffering from any water retention or constipation that might be masking your weight loss?

      Kind regards

  • Lisa martin on January 12, 2017

I take D-Ribose to power my muscles due to chronic fatigue. Approx 10g per day. Can I still take this on the dukan diet?

    • Amber on January 13, 2017

      Hi Lisa

If you are taking this for medical reasons you should not stop. As it is a sugar it might slow your weight loss though.

      Kind regards

    thanks X

    • Amber on January 6, 2017

      Hi tamina

Can you let me know what you’ve been eating each day.

  • LISA on January 6, 2017

    • Amber on January 6, 2017

      Hi Lisa

Having followed the Dukan before it is likely that some of the eating habits stuck and this means that you are not able to recreate the same conditions as when you were so successful. The Dukan will work again but just like any weight loss programme it is not a magic bullet and it will take determination for you to succeed.

  • Qeti on October 21, 2016

Hiii i have been on this diet for 2 months and lost 15 kilos very happy but my weight lose hhas stopped it is stuck in one place and not losing anything anymore i sm following the rules exactly though but it does not seem to work idk what i should do. I am dping 3 pp in a week and rest ppv in a week. So it comes out to 3/4. What am i doing wrong?

    • Amber on October 23, 2016

      Hi Qeti

Well done for your success so far. A plateau in weight loss is not unusual but if it last more than a couple of weeks you will need to look more carefully at what you are eating and try to exercise a little more if you can. As you lose weight you need less calories each day to maintain your weight so there comes a time that a calorie intake that was producing a weigh loss only maintains your weight.

  • Ayat on October 6, 2016

    Hi amber

Am in dukan diet 2 for 2 weeks first one lost 1 kilo and half but during the sec werk i gained 200 grams and am trying to avoid gaining more
Am sticking to the rules and my stomacke is bloated most of the time
    Please advice

    • Amber on October 16, 2016

      Hi Ayat

If you are bloated something is disagreeing with you. As you eat such a varied diet on Dukan Diet 2 I’d recommend switching to the Dukan Diet to see if you still get bloating when just eating protein and vegetables.

  • Foz on April 20, 2016

I have done the attack phase for 5 days. This is my seventh day on the Dukan.I feel very bloated.Havent lost any weight.I feel very defeated.Plse advise me.I think I may be due on.

    • Amber on April 23, 2016

      Hi Foz

It is all probably due to your monthly hormone cycle. Stick with and things should sort themselves out.

      Kind regards

  • Rachael on April 14, 2016

Ive been on the duke diet for 4 days now and haven’t noticed any weight loss. If anything, I feel heavier and more bloated from all the water I have been drinking.
I thought the attack phase was meant to show the most weight loss.
Is something wrong or am I just being impatient?

    • Amber on April 17, 2016

      Hi Rachel

If you are having water plus milk plus tea/coffee plus diet drinks it may be that you are drinking too much fluids. Also if you have changed to foods that are higher in salt content than you normally eat you may be having some water retention. Monthly hormone cycles can also have the same effect.

      Kind regards

Hi… I have an underactive thyroid and started the diet 2 weeks agobut not loosing at all pls assist

    • Amber on December 2, 2015

A low fat, low carb diet like the Dukan is usually considered the best way for people with an underactive thyroid to loss weight. I’d suggest a quick chat with your doctor so to make sure there isn’t another underlying health condtion at fault.

      Good luck

  • George on November 15, 2015

    Hi Amber

Is it possible we can have some other food like pulses &cereals on pp days rather than having white meats ?

    • Amber on November 19, 2015

      Hi George

A White Protein day is to help when you are not losing weight, adding pulses and cereals would not help at all.

      Kind regards

  • Daniela on September 1, 2015

    Hello Amber,

Good Morning, I’ve been doing the diet for two weeks, the first week I lost 2.2 Kg but the second one nothing. What can I do??

    • Amber on September 6, 2015

      Hi Daniela

Stick with it – our bodies often don’t lose weight in a straight line.

      Kind regards

    • Gaby on February 9, 2016

Daniela hi! I have exactly the same situation. What happened to you? Did you stick with the diet? Thanks! It is very frustrating eating so restrictively and not losing any pounds!

  • Catherine on August 25, 2015

    Hi Amber,

I have been on the Dukan diet for just over 3.5 months.
    I have lost 17kg.
However, for the past two weeks nothing. I have not changed anything in my diet. What can be the reason?

    • Amber on August 25, 2015

      Hi Catherine

There are many possible reasons and I don’t have enough information to answer your question as there are many reasons why you may not be losing weight. To demonstrate I’ll give you two very different explanations.

      1. As you lose weight you need to eat less to maintain your weight. This could mean that quantities of foods eaten before that produced a weight loss no longer do so.

      2. If you have been restricting your calorie intake too severely you may find that your body has reduced your metabolic rate in order to perserve body fat. It views the lack of food as a famine that it needs to keep you alive through.

It really is not unusual to experience these periods of stagnation for what ever reason. Stay strong and stick with the Dukan.

      Best wishes

      • Catherine on August 27, 2015

        Hello again Amber!

        Thanks for the information.
I really don’t know the problem.
I am just stuck. I go up 200 gr and lose 300gr…its been like that for almost 3 weeks now.
Anyway, will carry on and see what happens.

        Thank you

  • Christina Howe on August 17, 2015

I find it easier to do the PP during the week, and the PV during the weekend. Is it allowed to do Monday to Thursday PP, and then Friday to Sunday PV?

    • Amber on August 19, 2015

      Hi Christina

It would need to be 3 PP and 4 PV one week and 4 PP and 3 PV the next as you should keep the PP and PV days in balance.

      Best wishes

      • Rebecca on August 21, 2015

Hi Amber, I was wondering about the 2/0 option. It made it an option in book for women with cellulite and larger bottoms (pear shaped). That’s me…. I’m happy to stay on the cruise as is (1/1) but if 2/0 would help my bottom area that is what I need… I love the top half of me…
Any suggestions or evidence of the 2/0 working? It was such a small section in the book…. I wanted to learn more stats or data on it…
        Thank you!

        • Amber on August 23, 2015

          Hi Rebecca

I’ve not had any reports back about 2/0 providing targeted weight loss and I don’t think this is really possible. I’d stick with 1/1 and pick some targeted exercises to help tone up your problem area.

          Best wishes

          • Natie on August 23, 2015

            Hi Amber,

Can you please tell me what the 1/1 and 2/0 refer to? I have no clue!

          • Amber on August 23, 2015

            Hi Natie

1/1 = 1 day of PP (Pure Protein as in the Attack Phase)/1 day of PV (Pure Protein plus vegetables) and this is the most common rhythm used in the Cruise Phase.

2/0 = 2 days of PP and 5 days of eating sensibly and this rhythm is said to be helpful in targeting weight loss around thighs/hips.

            Hope this helps.

            Best wishes

  • Jenny on August 11, 2015

    Thanks amber 🙂

  • Jenny on August 7, 2015

    Thanks Amber

Can u please advise which is better in terms of results 1PP 1PV or 5PP 5PV

    Thanks again

    • Amber on August 10, 2015

      Hi Jenny

Over a 10 day period both would produce exactly the same result. Most people do find that 5 consecutive days of PP is quite daunting and may give more issues with constipation. It is really a case of chosing which ever you think you can follow the easiest.

      Kind regards

  • Jenny on August 4, 2015

    Hi amber,

I did attack phase for 3 days lost 2 kgs n then cruise phase 1 PP 1PV for a week lost 1 kg. however am thinking of 3 PP 1 PV 3PP or 6 PP 1 free day. Do u think any of options will result in loosing more weight. I need to loose 7 kgs more.

    • Amber on August 6, 2015

      Hi Jenny

Sorry it isn’t not allowed to increase the ratio of PP to PV days in this way. They need to be equal.

      Kind regards
